Yesterday was the last day voting for the 2019 NBA all-star game, the all-star game is often the showcase event for the NBA more so than the NBA finals honestly. Now my vote isn’t official (hopefully one day) but here are my votes for the starters, reserves and write ins for each conference that I posted on my various social media platforms.
The eastern conference is where I begin and here are my eastern conference starters. Kawhi Leonard from the Toronto Raptors, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics and Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets. Now on to the reserves and write in pick, Victor Oladipo of the Indiana Pacers, Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors, Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat (#OneLastDance) Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers, Blake Griffin of the Detroit Pistons, Nikola Vucevic of the Orlando Magic, Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks and my write in selection goes to Vince Carter of the Atlanta Hawks.
The western conference is next and here are my starters which was extremely tough in this very talented conference. James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. The reserves were also tough to select but I went with Anthony Davis of New Orleans Pelicans, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Demar Derozan of the San Antonio Spurs, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Mike Conley Jr of the Memphis Grizzlies, Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz and the write in selection is Dallas Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki.
This year’s voting may have one of the tougher years making selections, I feel I left some deserving players off but sadly there are only 24 spots each year. Hopefully the votes and selections lead to another good all-star game like last year’s game and showcase the current as well as future superstars in the NBA that weekend.
