The 2018 NBA rookie class is filled with so much talent like Jaren Jackson Jr, Trae Young, DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, Miles Bridges and others but for me and others the breakout star of this draft class is the international rookie sensation from Slovenia Luka Doncic who has taken the NBA by storm so far this season.

Doncic has been basketball star for a couple of years in Europe playing for the Slovenian national team and playing for the Real Madrid euroleague team since he was 13 years old and has accomplished some things along the way like Euro League MVP and Euro League Final Four MVP at 19, ACB most valuable player, back to back Euro League rising star and ACB Best young player awards which has validate some of Doncic’s hype coming into NBA this season.

Regardless if his hype is deserving or not Doncic has shown he belongs and will be a future star and centerpiece for the Dallas Mavericks as they transition and prepare for life after the franchises best player and 1st ballot hall of famer Dirk Nowitzki  who has embraced Doncic  and what he brings to the franchise.  So far this season Doncic has played well averaging  18 points per game leads all rookies,  4th rookie rebounds with 6.5 per game, 2nd in rookie assists with 4.3 per game,  shooting 43 % from the field,  38% 3 point shooting and 79 % at the free throw line.

Doncic has all the to be a huge star in this league and so far he’s on the path to becoming  that along with justifying any hype that is associated with him, so seat back and enjoy the show Doncic is going  to put on for the basketball world.
