Well it’s awhile since the last post, and not much has happened but there’s one thing I feel I need to talk about. That one thing is the Russell Westbrook incident in Utah last week.

Last week during a game against the Utah jazz, Westbrook had an altercation with a heckling fan who said some derogatory things to upset the often high strung superstar.

Westbrook’s reaction of course went viral and created enough negative attention for Jazz fans and franchise. After a brief and efficient investigation the Jazz banned that fan for life as well as apologized to Westbrook.

Unfortunately this isn’t Westbrook’s first issue with fan interactions. There was another incident in Utah during last year’s postseason along with some other issues in other NBA cities.

Now is Westbrook thin skinned, high strung and intense? Yes he is and should know when to back away, but this doesn’t give fans who buy courtside or close to the action seats the right to say anything to players.

Having those tickets are privilege, heckling a player or team in the spirit of competition not to be derogatory or anything else.
Hopefully the Jazz way of handling this will set the bar for the other teams to correctly handle this growing issue.

Despite it’s a growing issue that hopefully the NBA will back and support the players by having better security, procedures and policies in tact for better interaction between fans and players.
