With the NBA free agency still ongoing there are some player movements that still could happen. Particularly Donovan Mitchell and Kevin Durant, with DeAndre Ayton having an offer sheet matched by the Suns and cannot be moved until January 15th now has Mitchell and Durant as the next dominoes to fall so here are some possible realistic landing spots for both stars.
Donovan Mitchell
New York Knicks- Let us start with the obvious move which is the good ole New York Knicks who are still searching for the star that wants to be theirs. Well Mitchell a native New Yorker could be that star, but it all depends on what the Knicks want to part away with in order to get Mitchell.
Assuming one of their three young assets (Barrett, Toppin and Quickley) would be going back along with either Alec Burks or Evan Fournier and Julius Randle who was disgruntled and unhappy last year along with draft picks could be the package that peaks Utah’s interest in moving forward and sending Mitchell to New York.

Miami Heat- This would have to get tricky and potentially require a 3rd team to make it work but the Miami Heat are confident they will land either Durant or Mitchell, For Mitchell would be likely trade package to landing him with Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and picks to Utah and Donovan Mitchell along with Mike Conley Jr would be going back to South Beach.

Dallas Mavericks- A wild card team that can sneak into the Mitchell sweepstakes, now the package would be difficult to say the least but could be doable. Dallas would have to send a slew of picks, Tim Hardaway Jr, Dwight Powell and potentially Dorian Finney-Smith in order to make a respectable offer to Utah for Mitchell. Again, it is a longshot, but stranger things have happened.
Kevin Durant
Phoenix Suns- We now go into the Kevin Durant possibilities that will shake up the league regardless of where Durant lands. We will begin in the desert with the Phoenix Suns who are absolutely in win now mode but with an awful owner who hopefully is on the way out and a shaky chemistry situation something may have to happen.
So, enter Kevin Durant who did have the Suns as a landing spot for him which would be insane, but what would be the offer for the Suns? Clearly the cut off point is young all-star Devin Booker so a trade package of DeAndre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, and several draft picks would be the offering that may convince the Nets to move Durant.

Miami Heat- The Heat are back in the trade for a superstar sweepstakes with Kevin Durant, now this is going to be difficult because clearly a trade package revolving around sixth man of the year Tyler Herro would not be enough to encourage the Nets to do business with them. So, they would need a third team to make this possible now who that willing third team would be is very sparse, but history tells us to never count out the Miami Heat in this situation to get it done if they want a certain player
Toronto Raptors- As a Raptors fan I have to acknowledge the possibility of getting Kevin Durant, which would be amazing even if it were for a short window of time, it would put the Raptors in title contention. So, the big question is what is the package? Now the starting and end point is with rookie of the year Scottie Barnes and whether he’s in the deal or not, for the sake of this exercise I am not putting Barnes in the deal and sadly offering star player/face of the franchise Pascal Siakam would have to be involved in the trade along with Gary Trent Jr, Khem Birch and picks could the sweet spot for the Nets to move Durant.

New Orleans Pelicans- The Pelicans can put together a great package and not really miss a beat as far as their progress goes. With Zion Williamson signing his rookie extension and some pieces that can intrigued the Nets to make the trade. The package would be a group including Herb Jones, Trey Murphy III, several draft picks and break out young star Brandon Ingram to sweeten the deal.
