It’s been a couple of weeks since the last entry (no internet) but first congratulations to the Milwaukee Bucks winning the NBA title (I had the Suns in 6 games) and congrats to Giannis Antetokounmpo taking the next step to being one of the elite players in the NBA. But with the NBA draft (Picks 1 through 15) coming up tomorrow here is my mock draft for tomorrow’s event.
Detroit Pistons: The Detroit Pistons start tomorrow night’s draft and should be a rather fast selection, the Pistons will select Cade Cunningham from Oklahoma State who is the top guy in this draft, and you can pair Cunningham with last year’s lottery pick Killian Hayes to make highly promising backcourt for years to come in the Motor City.

Houston Rockets: The Rockets continue their era after James Harden’s departure. Picks 2 and 3 are one of couple interesting spots in the lottery and they can go either way with USC big man Evan Mobley or young sensation Jalen Green from the NBA G-League Ignite team. At this spot Houston needs to go with the high ceiling potential guy so the Rockets will shock the system and take Jalen Green with this pick.

Cleveland Cavaliers: The Cavs have a slam dunk easy choice with this pick and will take Evan Mobley from USC with the #3 pick and hopefully begin a step in the right direction in rebuilding this awful franchise and roster.

Toronto Raptors: My Toronto Raptors are in a sweet spot here with the fourth pick. Barring they do NOT trade this pick away the Raptors will select Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga who will be the ideal plug and play player to this Raptor team and get them back into playoffs the following season.

Oklahoma City Thunder (Via Trade with Orlando Magic: The Magic & Thunder swap positions here I think in tomorrow’s night draft where the Thunder will move up to take the best available guy who will be Scottie Barnes from Florida State here to complement their young star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Orlando Magic (Via trade with Oklahoma City Thunder: The Magic with this pick swap may catch a break here and select UConn guard James Bouknight to give them guard shot creator they desperately need.

Golden State Warriors: The Golden State Warriors have 2 lottery picks this year and going with the idea that they didn’t trade these picks away the Warriors will select high IQ players but will not resist the upside of this pick and select Jonathan Kuminga from the NBA G-League Ignite who is the forbidden fruit player in this draft that the Warriors can’t resist and think they can fix.

Orlando Magic: The Magic are back on the clock here and take a riser in recent draft boards with Arkansas Moses Moody to improve the depth in their backcourt and come out this draft hopefully better and/or smarter than they were before the draft.

Sacramento Kings: Sacramento is in their familiar place here and hopefully will pick a good player and fit here! So, with a roster in constant flux, they need a stable foundation like player here to go with last year’s rookie Tyrese Haliburton. So, with the 9th pick the Kings will select Franz Wagner from Michigan and have a high IQ big man that can make others better.

Memphis Grizzlies (Via trade with New Orleans Pelicans): With the trade yesterday, the Grizzlies are in the top 10 here and will continue their great building around young superstar Ja Morant, so with this pick the Grizzlies will select Duke’s Jalen Johnson giving them an athletic wing to run with the young nucleus they have in place in Memphis but man there’s a lot of Jalens in this draft (Laughs).

Charlotte Hornets: The Hornets can continue to build off the momentum they build last season and add another high IQ player to play with rookie of the year LaMelo Ball, so with this pick the Hornets take one of the enticing players in this draft Australia’s Josh Giddy.

San Antonio Spurs: The Spurs rebuilding phase continues here with this pick and will go with the international flavor here selecting Turkey’s Alperen Sengun who’s throwback like style will be appealing to the Spurs and their culture they have built throughout the years plus have a great mentor close by in Tim Duncan.

Indiana Pacers: Another team that can build off their momentum from last season is the Indiana Pacers, the Pacers need to a guard/wing to pair with their dynamic big duo in Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis. With the 13th pick the Pacers make a surprise pick here with Chris Durate from Oregon who can space the floor and shoot well which will help Indiana offensively.

Golden State Warriors: GSW is back on the clock with the 14th pick and went high risk, high reward with the 7th pick so here at 14 they need a surefire safe choice here who they have scouted highly all along and they select Baylor’s Davion Mitchell here to be a potential protégé to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Washington Wizards: The Wizards finish the lottery out in a state of limbo. With the futures of Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook in the air they will have to go with someone who can excite the fanbase and franchise in some capacity. So, with the 15th pick the Wizards will get a gift here by selecting Tennessee’s Keon Johnson who luckily dropped to them in my mock draft.

Tomorrow night can be another exciting night in the NBA offseason and hopefully will the beginning of many teams’ future.
