The first article of Attack the Glass is a tribute to the great Stan Lee. Lee passed away last Monday at the age of 95 but is one of the most creative minds in entertainment, which got me thinking of some Marvel superhero and NBA player comparisons and I have some good ones and will list the rest of them so let’s get into it.
Russell Westbrook is one of the most fearless, aggressive players in the NBA, so who would he compare to in Marvel universe? For me the answer is Wolverine from the X-Men. Westbrook like Wolverine is indestructible at times, but is often times hot headed and often loses sight of the team goals for his own accomplishment but like Wolverine Russell Westbrook plays with some purpose.
LeBron James is the closest thing to a real life superhero in the world today. He also is a sports billionaire which is why Iron Man is the perfect comparison in Marvel. Wealthy, super strength and durability are some of Iron Man’s noticeable traits which are also LeBron’s characteristics as a basketball player from his super human strength, to his durability of never been seriously injured throughout his 15 year career makes LeBron the NBA version of Tony Stark.
If you’re a Marvel Comic Universe fan you probably saw the avenger’s infinity wars which introduce us to Thanos. So who better to be Thanos than Michael Jordan, a powerful titan who can be a psychopath which is a perfect description of Michael Jordan. Jordan’s competitive nature is considered psychotic and his “infinity rings” are his 6 NBA titles and 6 NBA Finals MVPs which makes him for most basketball fans the most powerful player or icon in NBA history.
