With the NBA trade deadline come and gone there were some surprises that happened. So here are my winners and lovers of the deadline.
Winners
Dallas Mavericks: This may sound crazy to some but the Dallas Mavericks were winners at the deadline with trading unhappy unicorn Kristaps Porzingis to Washington for some guard insurance in Spencer Dinwiddie and stretch 4 Davis Bertans. Dinwiddie and Luka Doncic should be a suitable combination along with creating more floor space and shooting taking some heat off of Doncic.

Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers: This next one has multiple winners here from the Nets to the Sixers to James Harden and Ben Simmons. Both players eventually got their wishes and were moved to different teams while their former teams improve from this trade. While the payoff will come in the postseason the remaining part of the regular is good start to blend their new additions together.

Losers
Domantas Sabonis: Right away one of the unfortunate losers from this trade deadline was Domantas Sabonis, who was sent to basketball purgatory in Sacramento where his talents will be lost in the shuffle and mess that is the Kings. Hopefully Sabonis can improve that roster to make a run for one of the play-in tournament spots.

New York Knicks: The Knicks were big losers at the deadline by not doing anything to shake up their roster that is in crisis right now. If the season ended today they would be out of the playoffs with a disgruntled star in Julius Randle and a roster in flux despite the rise of RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin. This off-season the Knicks must do something or they will continue to slip in a now competitive eastern conference.

Los Angeles Lakers: Last but not least is the LA Lakers who are in desperate of some shaking up to their roster. But limited in assets and players to make a move left them making no moves at the deadline, the Russell Westbrook piece is pivotal to their success and lack of completion to this roster and the trade deadline showed that. So hopefully the team can muster up a good run to the play-in tournament game again otherwise this season is a absolute fail for the Lakers.
