Well a quarter of the NBA season underway and so much developing here are my quarter season awards.

MVP- As ridiculous of a season Giannis Antetokounmpo is having so far, Luka Doncic has been the MVP so far. Averaging close to a triple double as well as making the Dallas Mavericks legit playoff contenders, Doncic has been sensational but could be considered a most improve player as well.

Best Rookie: With Zion Williamson’s unfortunate injury, Ja Morant has taken control of this award. Morant has been incredible on an underwhelming Memphis Grizzlies, things could change upon Williamson’s return but Morant may hold on to it.
Most Improved Player: This could be a first having a back to back most improved player with Pascal Siakam of the defending champion Raptors. Siakam has taken another leap so far becoming the number one guy in Toronto, averaging 25, 9 and 4 so far as well as becoming a consistent spot up shooter Siakam’s ceiling continues to seem endless.

Best Defensive Player : As much as I haven’t been a big Anthony Davis fan, I have to give him his due here as he’s been incredible defensively for the Lakers who surprisingly have come out strong so far. Davis’ presence on defense is going to be pivotal in the Lakers success and title aspirations this season going forward.

Sixth man: Montrez Harrell has been the spark coming of the Clippers bench. Having another 6th man candidate beside him in Lou Williams, Harrell’s energy and play has been a difference maker so far for the Clippers.
Best Coach : Call me bias if you want but Nick Nurse of the Raptors has been genius so far, getting the most out of the thin Raptors bench with injuries to Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka. Nurse so far is proving he’s one of the smartest coaches in the game.

Surprising Teams: Miami Heat (East) and Dallas Mavericks (West)
Disappointing Teams: Philadelphia 76ers (East) and Utah Jazz (West)

Pleasant surprise Players: Malcom Brogdon (Pacers), Devonte Graham (Hornets), Aron Baynes (Suns), Bogdan Bogdanovic (Kings)

Shocking disappointment Players: Julius Randle (Knicks), Ben Simmons (76ers), Mike Conley Jr (Jazz), Clint Capela (Rockets)
Basketball season is off to a good start and hopefully it’s better as the season continues.
