The final installment of my top 10 all-time list ends with point guards. There many names that belong on here but didn’t make it like Chris Paul, Mark Jackson, Maurice Cheeks to name a few.  So I will begin this list with our number 10 point guard of all-time, the godfather of the position Bob Couse.

#10 Bob Cousy: The Houdini of the Hardwood, the first star of the position and Boston Celtics is Bob Cousy. His legacy still felt and imprinted in basketball to this day, however the evolution of the position has Cousy at #10.

#9 Gary Payton: 1 of greatest defensive players in NBA history Gary Payton is #9 on the list. The glove to me was the point guard of the 1990s and left his imprint on the game for his defense and trash talking (laughs)

#8 Steve Nash: From the point guard of the 1990s to perhaps the point guard of the early/mid 2000s and pioneer of today’s style of play. Steve Nash is one of the most innovative players to ever play the game and belongs on this list.

#7 Jason Kidd:  Our #7 point guard of all time legacy started in the 1990s but end in the late 2000s. Jason Kidd was one of the most well rounded and consistent players in recent memory. Kidd always adjusted his game to whatever team he joined and was consistent which made his legacy.

#6 Walt Frazier: If this list was about fashionable players then Walt Frazier would be #1 on that list (Sorry Russell Westbrook) Frazier was 1 of the original faces of the New York Knicks and of the 1970s.

#5 Stephen Curry:  Stephen Curry’s career is not done yet but he already is a top 5 point guard of all time. Curry and his shooting has revolutionize the game to what it is today, a 2 time MVP and multiple time champion which validate his place on here at number 5.

#4 John Stockton:  John Stockton comes in at number 4 and for some people Stockton is the point guard of the 1990s. Stockton and his legendary play was consistent, quiet but is acknowledged. Stockton is one the great to position ever and should be high on any list despite not winning a title.

#3 Isiah Thomas: Number 3 on my list is without question the most underrated, underappreciated and overlooked players in NBA history. Isiah Thomas is one of greatest point guard let alone players in NBA history. Thomas was face and unquestioned leader of the Detroit Pistons during his playing days, although his legacy is judged his front office errors and stints instead of his play Thomas is one the greats to ever play the position.

#2 Oscar Robertson: Before Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double for a season, Oscar Robertson was the first to do it. Robertson was ahead of his time and his game carries through to any era past or present.

#1 Magic Johnson: The number 1 point guard of all time should be no surprise as Magic Johnson tops this list. Johnson along with Larry Bird revived and revolutionized the NBA in the 1980s making them the foundation of where the NBA is today. His flashy style of play influenced many of league’s future stars and is the most beloved players in NBA history that along with being a decorated winner and pioneer is why he is number one on this list.
