Little late with this but I wanted to put some thought into what new year’s resolutions I would like to see in professional wrestling and basketball, so here are some of the resolutions I hope we see happen in 2024 that will be not only on Attack the Glass but also on Ringside with Right Hook Ray so please enjoy check them out, comment, and share.

Wrestling Resolutions

Nic Nemeth’s tour to show the world!

Yes, I used the line from his WWE music, and it is going to take some time to saying Nic Nemeth instead of Dolph Ziggler, but I hope Nemeth truly can his talents outside of the WWE spectrum. TNA/Impact seems to be a starting point and the possible matches with Moose, Josh Alexander, Mike Bailey and others certainly makes TNA something to watch potentially in 2024.

Nemeth’s appearances in New Japan also is something to keep an eye on with the potential feud with David Finlay and his match with another former WWE guy making a name for himself in Matt Cardona is a must watch for me (sighs) even if it is GCW which I do not like but if that is place for this match then I will have to suck it up but a lot of us are very excited what this run will do for the former world heavyweight champion.

The Blackpool Combat Club dissolves… Finally

I know Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson mean the world the AEW fanbase, but it has been time for the Blackpool combat club to finally end. Besides the fact that Moxley desperately needs to take break before everything becomes is stale if it hasn’t started already. Danielson needs to stop being in positions where he can be injured and stay healthy to give us the best possible final run like he wants.

But Claudio and Yuta have greatly suffered (more Claudio than Yuta for me) from this group still being a thing. Claudio was supposed to a main event potential, but AEW often drops the ball with some signings, and he sadly is one of them, Yuta on the other hand needs something to freshen him up and not make him unwatchable. Maybe breaking away from the BCC could be the opening to try something with Yuta on ROH TV and occasionally AEW TV.

Kross and Final Testament get real momentum.

The past couple of weeks on Smackdown we have seen the start of group led by Karrion Kross called the Final Testament that now includes Scarlett and the returning tag team Authors of Pain with their manager Paul Ellering. Kross time on the main roster since his return has been very underwhelming, but hopefully this will catch on and give Kross and the group elevation to the top of the mid card scene or possibly the main event scene by the summer.

Tony Khan stops being Tony Khan!!!

My last resolution for wrestling is most likely to not happen but sure would be nice, Tony Khan and his behavior, manner, and lack of self-awareness ends, and he finally smartens up. The proud poster boy of the message board, mark shit talking, delusional fans, Tony Khan has absolutely done more harm than good when it comes AEW whether their rapid, yet delusional fan base wants to admit it or not. His horrible handling of this Chris Jericho situation, the brawl out drama, and potentially losing their spot with WBD (Warner Brothers Discovery) who might look to bring in WWE’s Monday Night Raw instead should be the wake-up call to Khan, but it hasn’t.

His activity on social media has also stirred up the extreme toxic tribalism that wrestling fans find themselves in is worse than ever because of the misinformation, untruthful, and plain shameful ways of Tony Khan and his cheerleaders like Dave Meltzer has set this all-in motion along with other portions of “Wrestling Journalism”.

The 5th year of AEW will decide if this can logically continue or doom to go away, yes AEW helped give another place for wrestlers to go if WWE is not the place for them but the high school cafeteria drama that continues, lack of true direction, and Tony Khan’s complete lack of accountability & reality is going to be the sole reason why AEW dies and the wrestling landscape gets set back unless Khan finally grows up and leaves his message board, E-Fed chat rooms to be a grown up actual boss in professional wrestling.

Now let’s go into my basketball resolutions I hope happens this year.

Oklahoma City land a Big Man!

The most pleasant surprise this season has the rise of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are one of the top teams in the incredibly competitive western conference. This young team has everything except a legitimate big man to pair with their unicorn rookie sensation Chet Holmgren whose slender frame will not hold in the playoffs, so hopefully before the February 8th trade deadline they finally use their abundance of assets to get a big like the Bulls Andre Drummond, Pistons Isaiah Stewart or James Wiseman, or either Hawks Clint Capela or Onyeka Okongwu if they are serious about a deep run in the postseason.

Scoot Henderson finishes the season strong.

The start to rookie guard Scoot Henderson’s career has been rough to say the least, but considering the point guard position is the toughest position to adapt from college/G-league/European level. Henderson is figuring it out as he plays and sadly won’t be a finalist for rookie of the year but on this Blazers team, he will finish the season good, certainly will stand out potentially all-star weekend which would be the needed spark to get things going for him, so if you want to give up your stock in Henderson, I will gladly take it off of your hands.

Trae Young to the Spurs, WHAT?!

Currently tenth in the eastern conference the Hawks are certainly not living up to the expectations coming into this season. This being the full year under coach Quin Snyder things were supposed to improve especially franchise guy Trae Young, who is quietly on the verge of the Hawks having an uncomfortable conversation of whether they keep Young and continue to build around him or trade him and start over.

The Hawks are my second favorite team, and I wouldn’t be happy if Young is traded because there was so much left to be wanted with his time in Atlanta but either playing with Young or allegedly having not the best chemistry with teammates and coaches could send Trae packing but where? Well, this past week something was leaked out that Young would not mind playing for the Spurs alongside the phenom Victor Wembanyama which would an incredible duo and put San Antonio back at least in the play-in mix sooner than later.

So don’t be surprised if during all-star weekend the buzz about Trae Young being traded in the offseason get louder but him going to San Antonio becoming a thing to talk about until the draft at least.

The Warriors have to make some unpopular moves…

My last resolution again probably won’t happen but absolutely needs to happen, and that is that the Golden State Warriors finally move Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to bring in younger and more productive players to maximize their prime years with Stephen Curry. Yes, I know the Curry, Thompson, Green trio is the foundation for the Warriors have become and will certainly have statues made but right now Thompson is absolutely cooked and shell of himself in so many ways while Draymond Green’s antics and behavior have reached a point where it is time move on.

Also, the rumblings from their young project Jonathan Kuminga, the disappearance of Andrew Wiggins from the 2022 finals continues doesn’t make things better but the front office can’t ignore the issues anymore and have to make some uncomfortable and unpopular decisions, deal with the backlash of being the bad guys that finally break the trio up in order to be competitive while Curry has a limited number of prime years left.

Or do the unthinkable and look to trade Curry and truly start a new era. I like being an agent of chaos sometimes and the possibility of the Charlotte Hornets making a call to the Warriors giving a godfather offer that would feature LaMelo Ball, some other young assets, and picks to bring Curry back home in Charlotte as the hometown hero and starts a new chapter in his career and legacy. For the record I am not saying trade Stephen Curry but maybe just maybe you take a phone call or a meeting with Charlotte to hear what they can offer couldn’t hurt right?

A belated happy new year and hopefully 2024 is another good year in the world pro wrestling and basketball where surprises and never saying never are absolutely good things that make it exciting for us fans.
